Symposium, Sinuses, Welding

Last Thursday and Friday I was at the Junior Science Symposium in Iowa City. Some interesting presentations, and some that didn't appeal to me much. Our school's presenter placed in the final five, so he got a small scholarship and a trip to San Diego for the national symposium. Sadly, he wasn't the top 1st or 2nd, so he won't get to present down there. Nice little trip he's getting, though.

Since the weekend I've also been trying to get over some sinuses or whatever it is. Hopefully it'll clear up by the late part of the week, but I can't be sure about that. I also got a chance to try welding for the first time in metal shop today and it nearly scared the crap out of me. If you're wondering what type of welding I was doing, it was arc welding. The electrode got stuck to the practice piece of metal and sparked up. I dropped the electrode and electrode holder, which probably wasn't the wisest thing to do. I'm thinking of trying wire welding tomorrow, hopefully that'll go better. Either that or I'll just stick to using hemmed edges and rivets for my project, which isn't an entirely bad idea, provided it's okay with my teacher.

Been a while, hasn't it?

I apologize for being gone for so long from my posting. Been doing some homework, a lot of Counter-Strike, and I know Nick is going to critize me for that.

I won't say much cause I have to study for a biology exam on evolution (and before any of my readers start shouting stuff, know that you have every right to critize it. After all, it's only a theory.) I wish I had some news, even a link to post here but I don't have any, nor do I have the time tonight to find something important to find.

Then again... this gave me a laugh.

IE 7: so much for Firefox

I'm sorry. It's not that I'm a Firefox purist or absolutely anti-M$, but I doubt a new version of IE will be any more secure. In a perfect world, a web browser wouldn't have constant patching and updating. That world I know will never be achieved. But IE could maybe.... just mmmmaaayyybbbeee get close enough to perfect... nah!!!

Players being removed, revelations of mine

I'll start with the sweeter, gentler stuff, though this announcement isn't by much compared to what I'll say next.

Pierce Dismissed

This concerns an Iowa Hawkeyes basketball player who's currently under invesigation for several criminal charges, including an aggravated assault charge. This is sort of sad. Not because he's the star player for the team, okay partly that, but this is happening at the college I'm going to. I guess there's at least one troublemaker or student they look at suspiciously per campus.

And now, I told you earlier that I'd talk about my visit to Iowa City for doctor and dental. There's one thing you should know first.

I have hemophilia

The above is the link to the national organization page. Whoever takes time to read this, take some time if you can to look into hemophilia and other bleeding disorders.

I come to Iowa City every two years for them to conduct tests, which simply means a checkup and drawing my blood to check what's in it right now. As far as dental, I have to drive for about 2 hours to have others prod in my teeth because they're trained down there to deal with people with me. Hopefully I'll never have to get my wisdom teeth pulled. They haven't shown up yet, and that... wouldn't go good.
