I know it's been so long

I have many things to blame for my great lateness in my last posting, besides myself. I got my cable internet back last Thursday. Contrary to what I thought I'd be playing, Counter-Strike isn't the game eating up the most of my time. Instead I've been playing a WWII Half-Life mod, Day of Defeat. In addition, I'm getting more homework every day plus I've got a Herman Hesse project for Great Books II-AP I gotta get started on.

Everything in my life hasn't revolved entirely around computing and homework though. A little more than a week ago I won an auction on Ebay for a pair of books on Celtic shamanism, another interest to add to my list. Whether or not I'll actually practice it remains to be seen. What has to be kept in mind most of all is that shamanism is not a religion in itself, but a practice that a religion can partake in. And all of shamanism isn't practiced equal if you compare ethnicies that practice shamanism, i.e. comparing Native American shamanism to Celtic shamanism. I'm choosing to read into Celtic first because it'll go along with the Gaelic language Book/CD pack that sadly, I won't be able to get until I go down to Iowa City in January.

Another interest is grabbing hold onto me as well: The Sunrise Ceremony practiced by Apache females that are about to enter womanhood. It's interesting what these people have to go through in this ceremony and like my other interests in Native American cultures, it's not one I'm going to take lightly. I'm hoping to pick up a book on it the same time I get my Gaelic language pack. I also found some information on the ceremony and the book here

School cramps my personal writing so I'll have to end it here for now.
